I’m a lifelong book lover – my Dad taught me to read when I was very young, and my Mum bought SO many books for me…I always had a good story on the go, and could often be found lying in bed, way after my bedtime, reading “just one more page!”
There are many different types of books on my shelves, both fiction and non-fiction. My favourite authors are Jane Austen, Jodi Picoult, Adriana Trigiani, and Sarah Waters. Some of my favourite books are Emma and Pride & Prejudice, by Jane Austen; To Kill A Mockingbird, by Harper Lee; Schindler’s Ark, by Thomas Keneally; The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald; Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets, by David Simon; and The Night Watch, by Sarah Waters. I also like books about political and social history.
I’m also a sucker for the theatre – musicals, Shakespeare, anything with a good story. I think the buzz of live theatre is hard to beat. When it comes to films, I like dramas and comedies, old and new.
Home is in sunny West Midlands, England, where I live with my lovely husband and two Labradors. Hobbies include reading, theatre and films (obviously!), running – any distance from 5k to a full marathon, walking, and a genuine passion for health and fitness. I exercise every day, sometimes with great enthusiasm, and sometimes it’s a case of gritting my teeth and getting it done! But most of the time I can be located huddled in my favourite armchair, with my nose between the pages of my latest read, drinking too much coffee.
I started this blog purely to keep a record of all the books I read. Over time, I started incorporating film reviews and theatre reviews as well. All opinions, good and bad, are my own, and comments are welcome 🙂
